Go slow, work on 1 bar at a time, and keep building it up (memorize one bar, learn it cleanly, memorize 2 bars, learn them cleanly, etc.).

Well, if you talk to your doctor, they have these pills that'll increase your musical nervous response and your finger coordination and...

just play it over and over like everyone else. If there was a quick and easy way, Steve Vai would be selling pencils.

Yeah, but that's not what makes it hard. #1 many many people know and love it, so mistakes/improvs will stick out more, #2 technique-wise it's a pretty solid little ditty when you're trying to do the solos, and #3 it's a freakin' stamina song. What's it weigh in at, like 11 mins? That's a long time on the strings.

+1. It's easier to memorise a piece when you take it at one-bar increments. Then, mash them all together once you've learned them all individually and practise it as a whole, practise practise practise!

Good luck, I'm sure you'll kill it!

You're absolutely right. VERY Easy = Freebird.

Just play G minor pentatonic, maybe mix in G blues scale or G Dorian if you want to learn em. Learn a few Jimmy Page solos to get an idea of generic blues rock licks, learn the first 30 seconds or minute or so of the actual Freebird solo, and improvise the rest.

w/e.

Sure, it's easy if you're just pushing frets or half-assing and wanking in the pentatonic, but it's not so easy to really put in an effort and make it sound like the CD.
