Hey, could you guys recommend me some good "How To Build" books?

Lurking this forum has really gotten me interested in building, and from what I've heard here, reading up is really important.

There probably isn't anything in the book that isn't mention on here/project guitar several times, but it puts it all in one place and saves you searching around.

I just got a copy on ebay for under £3.

Oh, and there's a nice picture of an elephant in it.

Well the only thing I never see really detailed on this forum is how to shape the neck. I'm sure it's simple, but I've never seen examples of how to do it.

And I've never been to project guitar before.

Lol

Hey if anyone could give me some pointers on building necks I would really appreciate it. I'm going to get the book as well, but I would like to go into the reading with some background knowledge.

I have that book.

It's a good book.

But don't expect, page by page, step by step instructions, coz they aren't there...for any aspect.

It gives detailed explanations of everything, but not a step by step build.

Compile what you can see in the book, with TUT's on here, Project Guitar and Youtube etc and you will be golden.

Thanks!

Yeah, just as long as I can find out how you actually shape the neck I'll be gold.

Till I get a job and another electric so I can practice painting, wiring, and neck building on my Squier, don't expect anything from me

It won't tell you exactly how to shape the neck.

It tells you to shape the headstock end, then the heel end, then join those two contours up through the middle.

That's it.
