Been listening to alot of Stevie Ray lately and *trying* to learn some of his stuff, and generally learn from a real guitar hero. I've been able to pick up on fast shred and a variety of stuff, but Stevie Ray has been expecially diffecult to follow.

Am I alone in this? What other musicians do you find really tough to learn?

Essentially every musician is tough to follow, to each his own.

Try not to focus on trying to sound exactly like anyone, that's truly detrimental to developing yourself and your sound.

I like how you said you are learning from him, keep this up, borrow (I use this word loosely) as many of his techniques as you want and apply it how you think it should be done, use them in different contexts, that kind of thing. Don't try to use his licks to sound like him though, make them yours.

Find me someone who doesn't do that and I'll show you a man humping a hippopotamus.
