OK, I guess something of this fashion is in order.

Basically, you guys rank your Top 5 albums of 2008, and they get counted and given points depending on how you ranked them. The albums you can choose must correspond to the rules of accepted bands in the Metal forum, which can be found here.

You have until Friday 10th to make your votes.

Vote away, and all that.

EDIT: No Spam. Because if I don't say it, it'll happen.

CTHEDIT: Sorry Gojira, just got My Shameful's new album and it's just slightly better than TWoAF

1. Esoteric - The Maniacal Vale
2. Skepticism - Alloy
3. Enslaved - Vertebrae
4. Isole - Bliss of Solitude
5. Ihsahn - Angl.

a bunch of new releases that got left off for one reason or another, such as Opeth's Watershed, which made a big impact [regardless of whether people loved it or hated it] and Judas Priest's Nostradamus. Had there been a top 20, these would have been there somewhere

How was that compared to F.O.A.D? I don't own either, but I've heard Graveyard Slut and the title track and both were awesome.

Not as good as FOAD but still a damn good Black Heavy Metal album.

Yeah I only own the first 5 albums, then they get weird, and then they turn all crusty which is interesting.

This is all I know:

#1: "Board Up the House"- Genghis Tron

I honestly haven't heard enough metal from this year to warrant a decent list, IMO.

Yes, I've heard more than five metal albums, more than 10, actually, but I don't feel confident making a Top 5 yet.

Same. I do however feel confident in saying that 2008 was very weak in terms of metal.

'09 is shaping up to look quite well in my opinion. Mastodon, Cannibal Corpse, Necrophagist, Napalm Death, a lot of the "big names" in metal are bringing something new and promising.

Yeah, true.

From what I've heard so far, it's been a good year, but NOTHING compared to 2007, IMO.

Don't get me wrong, though, I'm just biased. 2007, IMO, was the best year for music in general in the last decade.
