Perhaps the Boss metalcore pedal. The only distortion pedal I really have experience with is the EHX Metal Muff. I freakin' love it , pretty versatile, too.

I'd imagine your mesa could handle what you need.
And, plus you have two high gain pedals.. what more do you really need?
Turn your bass and mids up and treble down

Well, both of his pedals arent the best, especially the grunge, one of the worst pieces of gear I've ever played.

Well, that still leaves your amps distortion and your death metal pedal.
Why buy a mesa if you aren't gonna use the distortion on it?

I think you might want to check out a new guitar or some better pickups instead of a pedal, your Trip Rec should be able to handle that.

Get rid of the Digitech pedals, buy an attenuator if you find it too loud, and crank your amp. It should get pretty deep with drop tuning and your humbucker in your strat.

Your Triple Rec might just need some tweaking/EQing, it should handle it just fine... if not, BOSS Metal Core, if you can't find one of those, EHX Metal Muff.
#12
my mesa is great but it seems too thrashy instead of deep and heavy. maybe higher output pickups would be a good start. ive been saving for both a vehicle and a schecter hellraiser c7, but i got fired from my job so im pretty broke. im goin job searching like tomorrow or the next day though so its cool

Mesas are known for needing a lot of tweaking so you will probably have to spend a lot of time with it to get the sound you want but it should be capable of it.

Your mesa CAN handle what you need. I can achieve it with my Dual rec, and have the same genre taste as you. Surely then it's possible on a tripple?
Sweet.
#16
Stop
remove the digitech pedals from your chain.
Begin futzing with the EQ

if that doesn't work, get an MXR 10 band and go from there.
#17
Would an EQ work well with my Orange Crush 30R or should i just get a distortion?

Sell and save unless it's your only amp. If it is your only amp and you are gigging just don't put any more money into anything else. Not worth it.
#19
Just bedroom playing, i want metal would an overdrive + dist channel work? like if i roll back gain on amp and boost on pedal?

I think you might just need an EQ pedal like the MXR 10 band or something.
Use it to boost your signal into your Mesa, while tweaking your EQ a bit.

Your Mesa Trip. Rec. should be able to achieve that, but like someone has already stated, they are known for being hard to tweak.

I would just fiddle enough with the EQ to make sure that you absolutely cant get the sound you want out of that amp, cause it should be able to get the sound/tone you want.
Got a question about Baritone guitars? Feel free to PM me.

Thanks to UG, I converted from Metalcore to some "real" Metal.
#29
Seriously all you need is your mesa. You play in drop c which should be fine but you play a strat which I wouldn't see fitted for "Metalcore" not as heavy.

Just get new Pick ups or Humbuckers what ever your guitar uses and if you don't see a difference use the money for a eq pedal.

Also one of my friends has a Mesa Dual rec and he said that it took him awhile to fiddle with the eq to get the sound he wants.

Did you listen to it under water with a marble in each ear or something? It's a great pedal.

Metalcore pedal is terrible.

Most distortion pedals are. They will basically rape all the good tone our of your mesa.

Just get a guitar with an EMG 81 or Seymour Duncan Blackout Bridge pickup, and maybe an overdrive pedal to boost your signal to get that real chunk out of the breakdowny riffs.

The rest you will definitely be able to do with your Mesa.
#32
I can't believe I'm actually saying this, but...

tune lower... those bands are probably in drop b or drop a

Do you actually own the mesa? It's okay if you don't and just put it in your sig to pretend...

the mesa should be deep and bassy unless you're doin it wrong.

They're actually the same circuit. And 'best' or not, they sure as hell can give you tight chunky distortion.

That amp should be able to give you thick, chunky distortion. Try putting the mids at about noon, the bass at 1 and the treble at about 3, tweak from there.

mesas are very mid heavy, so maybe a tiny bit scooped wouldnt be a bad idea.

are you talking oclock?

Try this. orange modern, tube/ss rectification your choice, bass at noon, mids at 1 oclock, treble all the way off, and presence around 10 oclock, gain at 2 oclock, spongey.

Hey, i'm a deathcore fan, and i really like the Boss ML-2 Metal Core to play stuff like "As Blood Runs Black", "The Black Dahlia Murder", "Bring Me The Horizon", "At The Throne Of Judgement"...
Extremely powerful distortion. It's as good as the MT-2 Metal Zone, but with a different feeling.
You should definitely try the ML-2 Metal Core.
