Ok I have decided to replace the stock 12 inch speaker in my crate v18. I have listened to a bunch of samples and videos (have yet to go to a store) and have basically narrowed down my choices to a celestion greenback, eminence wizard, or maybe a texas heat. The texas heat sounds a little restrained. I play a lot of zeppelin, cream, hendrix and mess around with some blues. So I don't need a metal speaker or a jazzy speaker. I would like a warmish speaker with some good but not overdone crunch.

Comments on these choices? any other suggestions?

thanks

are you looking for the speaker itself or an amp?

i was under the impression that most speakers had no noticeable difference between them.

Gibson Faded Flying V
"Dante's Inferno" Iceman
Fender Hot Rod Deluxe 112
etc.

I can't imagine anything worse than shagging to Mark Knopfler.

Maybe shagging Mark Knopfler, but that's about it.

Speakers make a huge difference in your tone !! Weber makes killer speakers and I swear to you I have tried almost everything. I was in tone hell for I tried everything . I put a Weber in my Crate VC 3012 made a huge difference!!!! And for tubes when your ready go with the JJ`S they made my Crate sing. Another cool thing you can do is upgrade the op amp in your Crate really helps..
