I bought a great guitar off of Craigslist (1996 Les Paul Special), where the guy threw in a free gig bag. The gig bag is a good enough one (TKL, like the Fender one in the photo below) but it's grimy as hell, stinks like smoke, perhaps some dead bugs in it.

I took the guitar into the shop to be set up and cleaned, but what about the bag? Do you think I can throw it in the washing machine? It's a pretty heavy nylon/canvas type material.

No big deal as I already ordered a hardshell case and have an extra gig bag laying around, but I hate to throw the thing out.

it will be fine, but the foam if there is any might ruin.

If it was free, just throw it in.

If it doesn't come clean it doesn't sound like you'd wanna use it anyways.

I'm actually more worried about my washing machine than the gig bag.

Like I said, I just hate throwing something like that out.
