Maybe its just me, but I find most Monty Python's sketches tasteless and not funny.
Yet I'm as hooked as a the pit likes a fap...

Anybody feels the same?

Exactly my view. The Life Of Brian and Monty Python And The Holy Grail are great, The Meaning Of Life is ok, and the sketch show...

The good sketches are incredible, but a lot of it is just rubbish.

I think it's a matter of context. It would have been seen as way funnier at the time it was made, but nowadays that kind of thing isn't really appreciated as much.

TS, feel free to swear on the internet; your mother probably isn't going to read it. Monty Python will be known for years to come.

Holy Grail and Life of Brian are masterpieces, Meaning of life is terrible, apart from the crimson permanent assurance scene.

Flying circus has moments of brilliance, but it also has some mediocre stuff, but I wouldn't say anything as bad as the majority of meaning of life.

Some of my favorites:

Self defence against fresh fruit
Spanish inquisition
Confuse-a-cat
Mr. Hilter
British Dental Association
Dead Parrot
Village Idiots
Philosophers' Football Match

Same.

While there are a lot of amazing moments in Flying Circus (Lumberjack, Dead Parrot, Spanish Inquisition, Chapman's "Colonel", etc.), I much prefer the films.

the films have good parts, but again have crap parts. I love the randomness though

I voted funny as heck! because the majority are.

"You Ugly git!" - That girl in the restaurant

"You Were a Mistake!" - Mum

monty python isn't one man.
Its the collective group of men who wrote the shows (john cleese, Eric Idle etc.)

Mostly its quite funny, ("No-one expects the Spanish Inquisition!") But there's a lot of stuff which I think is a little weak.

MP is like Hendrix when he came out - totally original, nothing like it had ever been done before. MP was a huge leap forward for comedy.

Of course, MP is gonna be a bit outdated now, and that's totally noticable even for a fan like me.

monty python is pretty bland. i really don't see the lulz in it, or most british humour for that matter.

I loved meaning of life. It didn't have a good plot or anything but I thought it was funny.

i think it goes something like this

Monty pyton>>>>>>>>>>all other comedy (in all forms)>>****>>>pouring tobasco sauce in your eye>>a lynching>Soul Plane 2>cyanide and crappiness> Pit humor.
