Hey every1, I'm in highschool and don't have a job, so I earn my money through gigging with my acoustic, I can get gigs through like family and friends etc. But I'm fairly new to finding them myself, any tips on how to look for em?

You need a license for that 'round here, I'm gonna apply for one but next auditions are in 3 months so I need to find gigs in between

you have to call places, there are places where i live that have local battle of the bands, or are very welcome to have bands play.

How old exactly?

If you are 16+ then get your lazy ass up and get a job because gigging around the town is hard if you're not 18 because most gig spots are bars and most bars don't want 4 mediocre 14 year old's playing their "metal" because most people who club/party listen to electronica/hip-hop, any one who is going to be at a bar probably doesn't want any music at all, and if they do, they want it to be background music.

If you're younger than 16 then mooch of your parents until your 16.

i live in the "live music capital" which is austin texas, so its not that hard to find a gig. but i say look at coffee shops. You can also try flea markets or school talent shows... they might not pay but you still get your name and music out there.

Yeah, you probably won't get paid much for a highschool band gig, if anything.

Check out Coffee shops, Churches, and your school. Those are the main places around here that have shows. Our singer kinda organizes show around here so it'll be easy for us to find a place.
