- Are "Tubes" and "Valves" the same?

- What other kinds of amps are there besides Solid State amps, and how do solid states amps compare to these amps?

- Are Vypyrs good for metal?

No...

Theres plenty of great quality SS amps. SS amps get a bad rep cause of the low low end amps like starter pack amps, MG's and Spiders.

There are some really great, expensive and reliable SS amps on the market.

You could read the stickies for the first two questions, noob. There up there for a ****ing reason, to cut back on threads like this.

And, the non noob question you asked was about the vypyr, which is in fact good for metal. Thank you for aswking about this one and yes, its a good practice amp.

Roland JC-120, Line 6 Vetta, Randall RG100 (the old one Dimebag used, was it RM100?), old Kustom SS's, Cubes aren't bad either.

How do you say "I'm okay" to an answering machine?

Amplification forum, threads covering everything you'll need to get started about solid-state, tube & hybrid amplification circuitry & then some.

For the vypyrs go try one out and see for yourself, usually these little modeling amps are doing the job okay, some do the job better than others depending on your tastes.

That was an extremely ignorant comment.

Your computer is a ****ing "nub", you should be reading books and talking to people.

Check out a Fractal Audio AxeFX, you'll piss everywhere.

1) Yes.

2) There are valve amps, SS amps, and 'hybrid' amps, with either a valve preamp or valve poweramp section combined with either a SS preamp or poweramp section.

3) Idk, go test one.

I think he's gone back to using Fender Twin Reverbs, actually.

But that's beside the point, there are very good solid state amps to be had. Ampeg VH-140C, Sunn Beta Lead, Sunn Alpha Lead, Hughes and Kettner Zentera, lots of Randalls, lots of Tech 21 amps, and on and on.
