Now I am not the most - if at all - experienced recorder, so I need help finding a USB interface to use, that has monitoring and everything a good interface would have. Price range is up to about $500 or less. The reason I say I need USB is because I got one of those new aluminum MacBooks for christmas, and you may not know, but those don't have an onboard FireWire port I have recorded at a friend's house once. It was with a PreSonus Firepod, (not with my laptop) but I didn't set it up or anything. I'm also looking for something with no latency, or people who can help me on figuring things like taking it out or whatever. Let's just say I suck with stuff like this. Thanks for the help, guys.

I've heard the Presonus Audiobox is pretty good as long as you're not using a windows machine. So maybe look into that.

I don't know what a stereo interface is, but I just want something like a small home studio. Nothing huge like Serj Tankian's or whatever. I'm looking for quality, too.

You could probably pick up a MOTU 828mkII from ebay for about that. It has 2 preamps on the front, 8 line ins on the back for outputs from mixers/preamps so has great expandability options and works on every recording interface (even protools if you adat it)

You could probably even pick up a firepod for your budget second hand, maybe even new if you're lucky.

MAKE SURE YOU GET USB THOUGH! Sucks about the new macbooks... ahh well.

^Well don't tell him to get a Firepod then. The clue is in the name.
