Hi really silly question but when reading tabs e.g

1----------------
2-----4----------
3-----2----------
4-----5---6---3-
5-----------------
6-----------------

When playing which string would i go to first 2,3 0r 4? OR would I play these all at the same time.

Sorry its just something I cannot get my head around.

Cheers x

It's can be a contraction and genitive case.

the fretting goes sequentially from left to right.
if they all are lined up vertically, you play those all at the same time.

but if theres a symbol (think of an upside down U but the bend is flat) it usually means play it at the same time but backwards as in going up the board not down (right?)
SATCH FTW!!!

There's nothing incredibly interesting here.

Thanks for all your help just looking at the courteeners tabs and the tabs are not vertical however they nearly are, does this mean I would play the top line then second and so forth?

Well, if you mean what direction up or down, you strum it from the 6th string down to the 1st string unless noted otherwise. I have never seen any tabs that you read from right to left, so you would strum teh chord and then pick the single notes.

You would play them in sequence (left to right).
So you would play:
D9 then B8 then G7 then D9 and then ect, ect. (the letters are for the strings)
You don't strum them unless they are directly vertical, if they are not, then just play them in sequence regularly.
