I got some christmas money and was thinking about putting new pickups in my Gibson Faded SG Special. I was thinking of some Seymour Duncan Blackouts or EMGS, but i dunno if this is a good idea cause i know that some pickups sound badly with some guitars. I play metal and hard rock. So would this be a good decision?

Metal and hard rock = EMGS

Go for it. I've heard a Gibson SG with EMGS and it sounded fine. Albiet, I don't play that style of music so it wasn't fun, but there was nothing wrong with the tone.

I know that EMGS = Metal lol i just didnt know if it would mess with the tone cause i heard that would happen. Any other suggestions for pickups other than EMG if any1 thinks others are better?

Get a new amp first, no point even looking at pickups until that's sorted.

Oh, ok then....Duncan Cusom in the bridge, 59 in the neck.

I wouldn't bother going active.

I just put some Seymour Duncan livewires in my sg and it rips. They are far more versatile than emgs

Are these the livewire pickups you were talking about?

Im actually reading some reviews about this and people say that they're not that versatile and are too expensive.

Ill keep these in mind but are they any other suggestions?
