Anyone know of some great African metal bands from countries other than South Africa or Egypt?

All I know of is Crackdust, who are amazing, but I really want to learn of some more.

Any recs?

I bet you'll find lots of NSBM bands come out of Africa.
Glance into my eyes
and see the darkest shadows dancing
Playing in the desert of my life
Burning, -
and my soul is descending...

Are you kidding me. Your political standing comes into play when being genre'd now? When ever happened to "I play metal." now it's "I play pseudo-socialist-death-black-metal-core-screamo-punk."

Give me a break.

That actually wouldn't surprise me. Alot of white South Africans are hella racist.

You're an idiot.
Nationalist Socialist Black Metal is still fukking black metal.
It's good to specify though, since most NSBM is absolute shit.

Clearly you don't like metal enough to bother trying to understand that Kreator and Cryptopsy and Opeth and Burning Witch don't sound very similar.

My point is: why isn't it just "black metal" who cares if they're Nazi.

gg Bypassing the swear filter.

Death metal isn't the same as any other type of metal. But Brutal deathcore sure sounds a lot like hardcore with elements of death metal. Why so many adjectives?

It is just black metal.
The bands just choose to unify themselves under a single idealogy, the same thing punk bands have been doing for decades.

A lot of black metal from Norway is Nazi and/or racist. They still are mighty comfortable with calling themselves black metal.

Sounds to me like every bands attempt at being the first ____ ___ ___ ___ _____ metal __ _ _ _ ____ band.

And now I suppose you're going to use Varg to validate this.

Can you name one legitimate genre of metal that you can't tell apart from the others or is unnecessary?

Your question confused me. So I'll do my best to answer: industrial metal sounds NOTHING like death metal to me.

My main point is the newer bands that are coming out now-a-days. You never see a band say: "We play death metal." Or even for comparison's sake: "We play death metal, kinda like what Cannibal Corpse plays."

"Grindcore" sounds a lot like what I would call "death metal."

There's a difference between being racist and being Nationalist Socialst

If you listened to more metal you'd realise the significance of classifying bands into different subgenres.

If you knew anything about metal you'd know there was never a stance of "I play metal" over "I play this type of metal".

If you went to say Metallica in their early days and asked them what they played they'd say "thrash metal", why? Because saying just "metal" lumps them in with the glam metal that they detested so much.

"Sounds to me like every bands attempt at being the first ____ ___ ___ ___ _____ metal __ _ _ _ ____ band."

I asked if you could name a single legitamate genre that resembles this at all.

Grindcore is a mix of metal and crust punk; deathgrind resembles death metal more, but still maintains the crust influence.

Have you ever heard any grindcore?

Death metal bands don't usually have 30 second long songs.

lol My case in point. It doesn't help that all these "sub-genres," to the "sub-genres" are bastardized by people until they mean nothing.

Done with this thread, you guys buy into the over-complication of the metal genres. You don't need a sentence to explain a metal band.

Varg is not a nazi.
I'm so tired of that misunderstanding being wavered as some sort of god damned fact.

Oh, and digital.bravo, I'm going to ignore your juvenile I still play with building blocks ignorance for the sake of my internet dignity, as to control my rage.

God damned you really are horrible.

We have earned the right to slowly grill you on a spit over a fire.

Because, you know, we are right. Using this dandy invention of logic.

And you have not seen me even BEGIN to flame.
Ask anybody here.

Crust punk/crustcore is heavy, mid tempo punk with shouty or growly or screamy vocals and lots of grindy riffs and left-wing political lyrics. It's one of the styles to grow out of the second-wave of UK punk.

Think His Hero Is Gone, Tragedy, Aus-Rotten, Union of Uranus, Kill The Man Who Questions...
