I'm changing the pickups in my 72 Tele Deluxe; I want a higher output sound.

Which pickups do I go with?
EMG 81/60
SD Blackouts

Also; would it be possible to do this?
SD Blackout/EMG60

Thanks.

You suck at asking questions....

What kind of sound do you want, what is available to you, do you really want actives, did you know that actives need a tube amp to sound really good, what kind of sound do you want?

I had a huge write-up in here to begin with; but I didn't get any responses so I just changed it to a plain question.

I want three distinct sounds:
1. a nice clean, not harsh or too bright, but not dull and lifeless either.
2. a hot agressive bright tone for power chords and lead picking lines
3. a heavy chunky deep tone for rhythm, palm muted, metal-gallop, tone.

I like everything from metal to hardcore to alt-punk to punk-pop. I'm not getting enough gain and have way too much feedback. I don't get this kind of feedback playing my friends hellraiser which has an 81/85 combo in it. I like his ESP that has a 81/60 combo so that's what got me thinking this way. I listen and would like to get a similar sound to: Underoath, Crash Romeo, Ludo, Taking Back Sunday, Senses Fail, Bullet for My Valentine, Vampire Weekend.

And I have a SD JB in another guitar of mine and like the sound, but like the output of the 81 more.

And finally, I realize putting in active changes the guitar ... well I love the look of the guitar and I want it to do what I want. I've even been thinking of adding a Fender Bigsby to it as well, but that will be down the road.

Thanks!!
