Can anybody recommend a good lick for practicing downpicking. Besides Master of Puppets.
Thanks already

Im sorry, I just don't see how you could argue that hardcore isn't metal. That just seems arrogant to me.

Yes, its its own kind of metal, but its still metal.

Seek and Destroy as somebody above said, except only the bridge riff. It's quite fast and all downpicked.

Slayer - Postmortem (whole verse riff is downpicked)
Sepultura - Inner Self (intense down picking)
Metallica - Creeping Death (I do alternate picking on the main riff, but you can go with fast downpick also)

I play it alternate picked, but you can go with a fast downpick also, it's more intense though

Yes indeed. And this one is pretty good practice too:

B|----------------------------------------------|
G|----------------------------------------------|
D|--------9\-5----------------------------------|
A|-2------7\-3------4---------------5-----7--7\-|
E|-0----------------2---2-2-2-2-2-2-3-3-3-5-----|

Why don't you just practice downstrokes on own made riffs.

IT doesn't matter what ur left hand does to increase ur down pick speed. Maybe for synchronisation, but your right hand probably will never move too fast for ur left hand to follow when doing downpicked stuff.

This way you hit 2 for the price of 1. Increased downstroke speed and possibly new riffs.

Imo twice as efficient

One of the best downpicking riffs in my opinion is from anthrax-a.d.i/horror of it all at the 6:10 mark. That riff is played at 225bpms. Check it out if you haven't heard It. I find it a lot harder to play than caught in a mosh

Necro bump. I'm pretty sure TS has already found plenty of downpicking riffs. I mean, it's been 7 years...
