Yep, think of a song you know. Post a link to it being performed, live or otherwise, in its entirety. Then explain what genre it'd be better suited for, explain why, and explain how it could be changed.

My submission is Lockdown Denial by Cute is What We Aim For It popped on my iPod on my walk home from school and the entire time I thought to myself "This would sound much better if it was a screamo or hardcore song."

Considering that its already a driving song and it there is even sublte amounts of screaming going on in the background, it'd be easy to transfer. In the verse, instead of it being so light, it'd have a guitar on distortion with the "Chug" counting beats while the other guitar would play the high notes with mild fuzz, just a bit more edge than is currently present. The vocalist would, of course, have to actually harbor testosterone in his body. Often when the phrase "I lived a lie" would arise at the end of the chorus, it could be sung, sung/screamed, or just screamed.

A screamo/hardcore version would kick copious amounts of ass. And now it's your turn, Pit.

Oh, and don't post that one video of the smooth lounge-styled version of the Cannibal Corpse song. It's old, it's not funny anymore, and it barely applies to the situation.

(Searchbar returned no results that matched the kind of thread I was shooting for)

I Want It All by Queen would probably sound great heavier.
These friends of my Dads do a really bluesy version of Bowie's Let's Dance, and it's great.

So basically stuff that would go on albums such as "punk goes ..." pop, crunk, etc etc

Sound of the Underground by Girls Aloud would sound good if someone other than Girls Aloud did it.

(...as a hard rock song. Or even with an indie kind of style.)
I play by my own rules. And I have one rule; There are no rules... but if there are, they're there to be broken. Even this one.

Confused? Good.

I can't think of a "dream" song, but I know of a song that probably shouldn't work but does.

I can't be bothered finding a link, but look on youtube for the Deftones cover of "Please, Please, Please Let Me Get What I Want" (The Smiths song).

Works well with Chino's vocals and a more pounding backing.

All Abba songs in power metal. There's a tribute album to them with various power metal bands and it's awesome

I think Johnny Cash can do a great cover of almost every genre. I'd like to see him cover something from Clutch.

It was genuinely better than Blink's version.

A bit pretentious to assume this thread will make it to "Part 2."

Your face is a bit pretentious.

It gives us a goal. I'm personally interested in that ABBA Power Metal cover, anyone have a link to a sampling of it?

Several country songs with banjo's would sound great with Cannibal Corpse style death metal, and vice versa.
Don't believe me?
Take a GP Cannibal Corpse tab and change the guitar's to banjo's. You'll hear.

Only those albums suck major ass.

And I personally want to sometime record a soft cover of A tout Le Monde, as it's one of the most beautiful songs ever.

In your opinion perhaps.
Never paid attention to them myself either, ive only listen to the stuff off them by the bands i actually like.
