Hey, can someone show me that thread that explains what metalcore REALLY is, compared to what a lot of people think it is? I wanted to show it to someone, but couldn't remember where it was.

Check out the Hardcore Forum, under Bands and Artists.
Here's my Youtube channel.
I play guitar and video games on it.
You're more than welcome to check it out.

As I Lay Dying, August Burns Red, Bullet For My Valentine(although a lot of their stuff has a close kin to melodic metal)

Imitation metalcore - Alesana, (old)Atreyu, Underoath really doesn't sound like Metalcore to me, but I could be wrong.

Apparently it isn't, I couldn't find it. It's mad at me. Something about "putting too much stuff inside of it"...

How would you describe Atreyu, then?

OLD Atreyu, I'de say is standard hardcore punk or Post-Hardcore with a few emo influences.

The NEW Atreyu, however, is Metalcore without question.

EDIT: Unearth is an amazing example of great original Metalcore

why the hell are there so many "cores"? why cant it just be metal, screamo, or hardcore? i see no need for so many branching "core" genres when most of the bands in different "cores" sound exactly alike.

Because there's a difference due to punk influences.

Lmao my opinion is the reverse of yours.

Metalcore is Metal whit hardcore influence or Vice versa. Whats make it so different from metal ? Metalcore is faster ( Double bass drum ), Heavier ( Discutable opinion) and they added screaming ( depend ) and breakdowns.

it's heavier than heavy metal, and that's about it.

The Image of metal is very different. I see metacore/hardcore/mathcore/geometrycore/whateverthe****core very different from metal. it should not be compared what-so-ever. but some may disagree.

I don't know how much real metal you've heard, but plenty of it uses double bass drums. And as for metalcore being heavier, that's not true at all.
