Sry for posting two threads on the same page... but I have a question...

If I was trying to play the major pentatonic scale in the key of A, I would just use the minor pentatonic scale pattern but play 3 steps up?

thx

you use the notes A B C# E and F#

if you played the A minor scale 3 steps up youd be playing C minor pentatonic

This.

Scales aren't just patterns - learn the notes on your fretboard and pay attention to the notes and intervals scales contain if you ever want to actually understand them.
