Hi, im going to strip the paint off an old guitar of mine and hopefully repaint it

What are the pros and cons of each method listed?

My guitar does NOT have binding so chemicals will not dissolve it.

The guitar is solid black if that matters.

Also, what type/brand of chemical should I use. (I really dont care if it ****s up the wood on the guitar, as long as all the paint is removed.)

I have used a chisel in the past to get paint off. Its generally really hard paint once it starts to chip it comes off pretty easy. Alot faster than sandpaper. Doesnt work with all paints. Worked good with a squire and a carvin. But didnt work with an epi.

has it already been refinished? If so chemicals may be easier. If not then sandpaper is the way to go.

I'm doing the same, the guitar's even the same color
I'm using chemicals, which is working well, but BE SURE TO DO IT SOMEWHERE WARM. I first tried outside and it was all full of fail until I moved inside where it is warm.

You CAN play anything with anything....but some guitars sound right for some things, and not for others. Single coils sound retarded for metal, though those who are apeshit about harpsichord probably beg to differ.
