I know I ask a lot of pickup questions but I want to make sure my second guitar will last. I am planning on getting an Ibanez RG7321 7-string guitar. Its amazing from what I've read and heard but I also heard that the pickups are pretty bad. I have 2 questions. If I mostly play lead, could I install a Dimarzio D-Activator 7 in the bridge and leave the stock neck in until I get the money? And how much would it cost, on average, to have someone install one or two pickups?

If you're going to replace the pickups then learn how to solder and do it yourself, it's really simple and it will save you a lot of money. Seriously, having the pickups replaced will cost more than basic soldering tools and you will probably need to know how to in the future unless you want to keep paying people to do simple repairs.
