so my LP has 11's on it and it is tuned down to drop c, yet the strings are still really loose. so is there something i did wrong when stringing it that made them loose? or something else?

No that's normal, if you want them to be tighter that low you need 12's. I recommend upgrading from your standard nut, if you haven't already, as 12's can break a sh!tty one. Try DR 12's.

well the guitar just got painted and set up with new pups etc, so the nut is fairly new. but i thought that 11's did the trick? cause im not the best at stringing them up so i didnt really get rid of any of the slack...would that be a problem?

That shouldn't matter. After tightening to standard then dropping they shouldn't have much slack. There's probably nothing wrong unless they're loose it standard.
