Idk I was thinking I might want a seven string. Although i have no ideas what my options are for good 7 strings. I play mostly metal and a little hard rock.

Favorite bands are: Trivium, Death, Annihilator, CoB, Pantera, Metallca, Dream Theatre (due to the man-god John Petrucci), Satch, and Paul Gilbert (which I guess means Racer X).

If I get a 7 string it HAS to have a tremolo. Promised myself I'd get my first guitar with a tremolo next.

But I have no idea where to look for good 7 strings. All I know is dean and ibanez make some but that's it. Recommendations?

really ibanez is the only companies that make decently priced quality seven strings. try the rg7321 (i think that's what it is called). i am pretty sure it is a prestige guitar, but it might not have a tremolo

edit: check out the rg1527 instead. prestige guitar, floyd rose. pretty sure it's in your price range

Agree with the above, also try one out first to make sure your gonna like it, otherwise if you decide to get it and dont like it then your gonna wish you saved for the jackson.

Idk why but I'm not too fond of schecters. I might just look into ibanez

Also I'm not CRAZY about active pups but I could live with em.

I live in the UK and know someone who bought an 8 string reaper without trying it first (because they're only in the US). However, when it arrived it blew him (and everyone who laughed at him for not trying it) away!

Is that link on Halo Guitars' site for their store legit? Like you can buy from their site?

****

Just realized all halo's come with a kahler. I don't like kahlers for the fact that they really easily get out of tune. I'm a contant string bender so that wouldn't help my cause too much either.

Anybody know if there are ways around this issue lol.

It's all gonna be my own money. But would it be worth it just to go into custom shop to put a FR on it? lol. Everything else would probably be the same lol.

I was thinking I'd save up to 1-1.5k but idk lol.

You CAN play anything with anything....but some guitars sound right for some things, and not for others. Single coils sound retarded for metal, though those who are apeshit about harpsichord probably beg to differ.

make SURE u learn the ins and outs of a floating trem...huge range, but u cannot quickly change tunings (without a d-tuna, but i think those are exclusively for floyds) and it'll take longer to change strings, set intonation if needed,etc..
not advising against one.but i didnt know ALL of these things when i bought my rr24.it was a surprise for sure, but enjoy having 1 guitar with a trem.wouldnt buy another one though

Same for me I kinda had to learn on the fly but I think ive learned alot where I can help others out now. I would get another trem guitar just because they stay in tune forever and are a blast to play with.
