I wanna tune my 7-string up to F# standard with a low B (like All Shall Perish), and would 9's give me enough slack to do that or would i need 8's? I tried with 10's and the high E broke so i gave up, and i have never seen 8's anywhere...

Has anyone tried this? and if so, what's a good string for doing this (hex-core, i hate round core strings)

Just get a pack of 8's for a six string and then buy a single for your low B. You aren't going to find a production pack of 8's for a seven string. And you can do the same if you want to go with 9's. Really just buying packs of strings for sixes and then buying your low B seperately, is much less of a hassle in any situation.

9s probably wouldn't break but I would say go 8s anyway; they'll be more comfortable to play and less prone to breaking anyway.
