I'm currently putting together a solo arrangement of Coltrane's "Central Park West" for an audition. I've got the first half of the tune done, but I don't know what to do yet for the solo section of the song. For the solo, I want to outline the chord changes, and then improvise some single-note lines between them. I don't have much experience playing over jazz, so I'm not sure how I should approach soloing over the chord changes, which are basically just a bunch of II-V-I's in different major keys. How should I approach playing over this progression, and what can I do to make it sound interesting?
