I love guitar, and I love acoustic guitar even more. Christ though I like my FG730s just as much and the tone didnt sound like 5000 dollars to me. Felt nice, and was gorgeous in person though. Just thought I would share. I know your paying for craftsmanship, woods, and above all a namebrand, but no way in hell is that guitar or any other IMO worth that much. Unless is signed by a long dead legend of some kind or maybe if its 40 years old and in mint condition I guess.

Martin and taylor are not as great as they are made out to be.
Ever try a Breedlove? Those are AMAZING for price, and produce a huge rich sound.
I have my eyes set on a 600 dollar one that i can see loving forever.

I find that once you hit about the $1500 mark, the tone doesn't get that much better, maybe just a little bit more refined. The $3500 difference is just the extra amount of care and perfection put into the guitar, which you can really see and feel if you take a good look. I dunno if I would ever pay $5000 for a production guitar though... For that price, I could go custom.
