my question is can i use my combo amp's 8 ohm out jack to go into the input of my 16 ohm 4x12?

i dont know much about ohms

Actually, you really can't rewire a 16ohm 4x12 to 8ohms. If it's 16ohms with 4 speakers, the speakers have to be either 4 or 16 ohms each. That means 4 of them in a cab can be wired at either 16 or 4 ohms total. That said, I've been using a 16ohm cab with my 8ohm Pro Jr for a couple of years now with no problems. It really just depends on the amp, and how it handles mismatched impedances.

If the speakers are all 4 ohms, couldn't you wire them into two sets(in parallel), then wire those together(in series)?
