If you want a portable setup, go with a POD

If you want more features and somewhat better sound....but at a higher price...
Go with modeling software and an interface.

A good start would be an EMU 0202 or 0404 USB...or PreSonus Inspire 1394

Modeling software will never sound like the real thing but its nice to mess use with ideas and such.

I would suggest trying to download some of the 30 day trials of each software modeling.

Native Instruments GUITAR RIG and IK Multimedia AmpliTube are two popular choices but there are so many out there.

As for the Behringer interface, I'm sure it works ok but I tend to stay away form Behringer recording gear. I will warn you it probably wont work with Vista if you are running that OS.
My choice for a lower end interface would be an EMU 0202 USB.

The 0202 is USB 2.0 compared to most other interfaces out there meaning it will have a high data rate giving you very little latency. This is quite important when you are monitoring playback.

No there is nothing in the lower range worth getting...at least that I know of.

You would be looking into a Digital Multitrack recorder with on board amp simulators. Some small MTRs offer this but generally they dont sound great.

If you were to upgrade to the POD XT or higher, as seen in that chart...You could use the POD modeling and use it as an interface as well.
