Well, recently I found out my friend has an old 1989 Kramer Striker. The thing is in horrible condition and it's missing the Floyd Rose, I don't have pictures but I was just wondering if it's worth spending about 200-300 dollars to rebuild it with some nice parts. Your thoughts?
#2
Yes

80s and early 90 Kramers are awesome.

I tried it out in store.

Great neck, nice n light, good tuning stability. Overall a good guitar. I didn't but it cause I generally only buy guitars over a grand now.
#3
If the neck is decent and you just need the floyd to make it playable then go for it

The neck is real nice, although the bridge isn't the only thing that needs to be replaced, we need to replace a few other things like machineheads, knobs, strings (of course), pickups. Minor things like that.

Edit: Someone put a crappy bridge on there so it's already playable, we're just trying to make it even better.

Go for it!

and post pics, eventually, if possible

Though if you want a real-deal, kick ass floyd, along with the other stuff, you might be spending over 300.

Does it need to be refinished?
#7
Well getting it refinished would probably be expensive; although it is a bolt-on neck so it would be easier. There are a few scratches here and there but that just kinda makes it look more badass.
#8
dude paint it EVH style but with your own three colors! its cheap (~$30), easy (3-5hrs), and really hard to mess up! and you better put a floyd back on it. even if its not an OFR. just go buy a cheap LFR.

Fair enough then.

I say repaint it. And if you do a Frankenstrat paintjob, do it in your own colors (might I suggest primarily white with black and kawasaki green stripes?)

They look pretty cool if you decide to be original with it.

Just for the hell of it, here's my kramer.

Mine's got a real deal original floyd and custom pickups only made for the series this came in , which was the 100 series. Kramers are great, I would definately recommend putting some green into it.

Glow in the dark neon green/pink stripes.

I'm not even joking, that would look amazing.

Maybe I should put flames on it...pffft ya right.
I kinda like the idea of the three different colors though, just not the Frankenstrat design.
#32
Dude.
Sand off the paint, stain it dark blue, and put a black burst around the edges.
that looks awesome on just about any guitar. Doesn't matter whether or not you have a flamed/quilted top. So don't start on that.
#33
Well a lot of you are saying to sand it off and do it myself. I guess that's what I'll do heh.
When we get all the new parts I'll make a new thread and then LP Addict can fap away

I just thought of a picture of a Kramer I saw one time that had a dark hunter green paintjob. It was a kind of light metallic, if you know what I mean. Looked awesomely amazing.

Hmmm.....

You know, now that I think of it trevor, you're right.

Which is weird, because I don't even hunt. I probably would if my dad did, but he doesn't either, so....meh.

I like camo though, and dark green is my favorite color. I painted the walls of my room dark green a month or so ago as a matter of fact. I mean, in all honesty, I love hunter green. You know, that really really dark green that kind of looks like an evergreen?
