+1, all you need is something with medium-high output humbuckers and a medium-high gain amp.

that just classifys it as a more tonally versatile guitar.

doesn't make it more or less metal. oh, and basses have 4-6 strings, aren't they metal?

i've heard some bad ass **** out of those...LOL

But from a simple tele design, thats a GREAT tonal difference, thus making it greatly different.

and emg's do nottttt belong in a tele, IMO

It might be greatly different, but it would be one of the easiest mods possible, therefore, not having the **** modded out of it.

And about guitars not needing 7 strings... it cant be the best if it's not the most versatile, and it cannot be more versatile unless it has a larger range.

I preffer 6 strings, because of my smaller hands, but i agree, usually more range is more versitility. The 7 or 6 string arguement is purely prefference though.

I don't see the big deal, a guitar is a piece of wood with magnets in it. If someone said they had a 50's tele and wanted to put EMG's in it, sure, thats not what that guitar was built for, but hey, it's not my guitar. Just because Jim Root isn't another cookie cutter country bumpkin who has to have stock tele pickups in the plain jane tele doesn't make it wrong by any means.

And in what way is Slipknot not metal. Led Zeppelin is technically considered metal. You can't tell me Slipknot is not more metal than Zeppelin.

Here's wiki's characteristics of Heavy Metal:
Heavy metal is traditionally characterized by loud distorted guitars, emphatic rhythms, dense bass-and-drum sound, and vigorous vocals. Metal subgenres variously emphasize, alter, or omit one or more of these attributes. The New York Times critic Jon Pareles writes, "In the taxonomy of popular music, heavy metal is a major subspecies of hard-rock—the breed with less syncopation, less blues, more showmanship and more brute force."[4] The typical band lineup includes a drummer, a bassist, a rhythm guitarist, a lead guitarist, and a singer, who may or may not be an instrumentalist. Keyboard instruments are often used to enhance the fullness of the sound.[5]

Not to mention slipknot is known as a Heavy Metal band, and was one of the leaders of the NWOAHM

Correct!

EMG's weren't designed to be higher output. They were designed for less noise than PAF humbuckers and single coils. By reducing their magnetic strength and boosting it before the output. This, however, does compress the signal, which is a drawback for many guys because it can take away the fullness but, this is most common in the 81 as it is ceramic. The 60, 85, 707, 808, SA, and 89 are alnico. Much fatter, less compression, bigger sound.
