BIG EDIT:
EDIT again: I've started, Pics are up.

Okay guys, I haven't been thinking about this recently, but it sprang to my mind again.

I would like to sand down the body, to expose some of the wood, make it look a bit older/awesomeER.
So it looks a bit reliced, but not overly so.
I'm wondering what you guys think, should I do it, or should I leave it as it is?
Also, if there's anything else you guys think I could do, please suggestions!

Guitar at the moment:

EDIT: Ignore the first posts, they are old ones
Wait.

tbh i think the colour it is is gorgeous. gold hardware would make it better though, just keep the colour it is.

www.axesrus.com has got stuff you can put on it (scratchplates, hardware etc.) so have a look there for things.

but yeh, i'd leave the colour, maybe change the scratchplate for something original like pearl effect or even a gold metal one (not actual gold, just gold plated) or one with a picture on (that website has loads of cool ones)

on your scratchplaate you could spray paint a design on it through a stencil, if you want to spend a bit of money, new inlays but the same size e.g. Abalone.

Okay, I've started, and done some brief sanding. I'm quite happy with it.
As I said I'm not gonna go mad, and over do the sanding, so not much more sanding to go.

Way out of focus

Opinions?

No I'm not Jesus. I would aspire to be though. I think under circumstances he would let you pay less if you needed to.

I'm not really going to a reliced look, just bringing out some of the wood.

Also, the pic makes it much brighter than it actually is.

What does that mean?

You clearly didn't read the link I posted. Best thing to do now is drop the guitar, walk away, and read until you have an idea of what you're doing . . .

do some around the backplate area, you might want to get some wax, or stain or something to make it a bit darker for a more reliced approach. and also do alot around the bottom.
Or sand the whole thing and make it a sexy natural wood finish with the black scratchplate

I don't know why you're sanding at classic "relic points" if you're only "bringing out the wood" (I think if you wanted to do that something like a checkered idea of square of natural, square of painted look would be better).

But if you are going for reliced, stain the showing wood a bit to show it looks older.
#17
hahahaha there's no way that you'd have wear in those areas. that's not relicing, it's relentlessly impatient sanding. good luck.

Okay, I know some of you guys don't like it, but I think it's prertty cool

Here are some updates, I've added little dinks, and sanded in some other area's.

This shows the true colour in the wood, before, I didn't know how to turn the flash off so it looked stupidly bright.

1 - Take off the neck and all the hardware.
2 - Make and attach a block to fit the neck-pocket. (to protect it)
3 - Beat the fuck out of it with a chain.
4 - ?????????
5 - Profit.

Edit:
Alternately you could use the chain to attach the body to the rear bumper of your car.
Drag that bitch behind you for about 5 miles on a dirt road.

Ouch
I've heard good and bad things about doing that, most of which turned out very bad.

I'm going to try and make the big long sanded bit look less clean, and maybe add some more scratches into it.
Wait.
