I'm trying to sort myself a cheap little home recording setup, problem being my computer is a few years old with no sound card apart from the standard Intel inbuilt malarkey. I've been told there's a way to bypass this by getting a mixer with a soundcard built into it but one of those starts at £300 in my local music shop and I was looking to spend about a third of that, is there any other way?

Thanks

I bought an Alesis I/O soundcard to record with myself. It cost me 139 euros, which is about 80 pounds. Very cheap, GREAT sound! Check my recordings on my profile, if you wanna hear!

Yes. Disable it in the BIOS. If you're unsure how to do this, then the above mentioned forum is a good place to start.
