Me and a few friends are thinking of playing for a open mic night at a local restaurant (Spinners Grill).

Any ideas for some songs to play?

We'll play pretty much any style of music except for country, but we usually play alot of billboard rock and metal.

We have the following people to use for this: 3 guitarists, a bassist, a drummer, and a guitarist can become a singer. Also if needed we may be able to find a keyboardist, but its not preferred.

Any ideas for some songs for us to play?

Story of the Year, not well known but they're amazing. People will LOVE some 90's style rock. TRUSTCompany is a good band for this too. One of you needs to be a tenor though.

You Ain't Seen Nothing Yet by Bachman Turner Overdrive? But make it heavier!
Then do a nice quiet cover of Wish You Were Here by Pink Floyd.
Then deafen everyone with a nice bit of Motorhead - Any loud fast song.

Anything that's been played at open mike countless trillion times before and requires little skill; take your pick from: Mustang Sally, Sweet Home Alabama; Sultans Of Swing; All Along The Watchtower; Hey Joe... you get the idea.

i would do some acoustic stuff, everyone can usually agree to like that, then get some good hard rock tunes in there, i really liked the freebird comment, everyone would enjoy that

Shattered - O.A.R. is a good one. One of the few modern rock/pop songs that I dig.

Hey There Delilah, duh.

Wonderwall - Oasis.

Just stuff you know the crowd will like.

Rush is the answer to everything. If it's a bar/grill, there'll be old fogies there who will love Rush. If there are young people there, Rush is still awesome, it's win win.

Try some Matchbox Twenty, Third Eye Blind, or Weezer. Good, generally-likable 90's style alternative rock. Possibly some Nirvana.

Songs I'd suggest:

Matchbox Twenty - "Real World"
"Long Day"
"3 AM"
"Push"
"Back 2 Good"
"Feel"
"Disease"
Third Eye Blind - "Narcolepsy"
"Semi-Charmed Life"
"Jumper"
"How's It Going To Be"
"God Of Wine"
Weezer - "Buddy Holly"
"Say It Ain't So"
"Island In The Sun"
"Undone (The Sweater Song)"
Nirvana - "About A Girl"
"All Apologies"
"Heart-Shaped Box"
"Dumb"

I say you do a small intro jam and then you play Tom Sawyer by Rush!

or you could do a RHCP song.
"This is Sierra-259, you got Spartans on the ground, sir. We're not going anywhere."

Fender Partscaster

Vox AC4TV

Korg Pitchblack Tuner
TC Electronics Nova Repeater
Electro Harmonix Big Muff Pi

You should probably put up a list of the all the songs you'll play on request, so people can just pick what they like.
