www.myspace.com/intronaut

Intronaut is a rather interesting Progressive Metal band
While not as focused on shred, they focus on beauty in brutality, While also being hypnotic.
I am pretty confident they belong in this forum, they are listed as
"Progressive/Metal/Experimental" on their myspace
so...

anyway, to me they sound similar to Mastodon, The Faceless and a bit of Cynic

but dont worry, there is shred =]

"including an awesome guest solo from Negativa/Gorguts guitarist Steve Hurdle"

give it a try!

Their new album fucking OWNED!

I was the only person that put it as a top 5 in the album ranking thread though.

They get mentioned every know and then in the post/experimental metal thread though.

I would have had it in my Top 5, but I only made a Top 1.

I'm sure you might have saw the post, but I just didn't feel confident enough making a Top 5, since I don't feel that I've heard enough from 2008 yet.

But, yes, definitlely one of my favorite albums of the year.

^ Indeed I did, but sadly Board Up the House didn't make it.

I have faith that Genghis Tron will break through in 2010 or something and everyone will say "who the hell are these guys?! they're so amazing it just BLOWS MY MIND! GAH!"

"Nostalgic Echo" is still my favorite Intronaut song, as well.

"Void" is just so fucking crushing. The entire album is just so mesmerizing. Truly one of the post metal bands that will go on to make a name for themselves, and will become part of the current "NeurIsis" stereotype of bands copying a sound, AKA re-hash post metal that simply mooch off only from Neurosis and ISIS.

Which is kind of silly in itself, because ISIS used to mooch off Neurosis, as well. a

I love how every post-metal band gets compared to either Isis, Mastodon, or Baroness, even though the only real similarities are that they all have some sort of sound similar to that already presented by bands like Neurosis and The Melvins, at least that's how it seems to me.

On Intronaut: I think "Sundial" and "Australopithecus" might be my favorites right now, even though "Teledildonics" is a hilarious title, and that plus the fact that the song is great could put it up there.

Anyways, I haven't gotten any of their EP's yet, are they worth it?

I got into them because one of them, i forget the name, played in Jesu. Still great band. Also there are already three threads on them.

This stuff is cool. I like the stuff up on myspace so far. At last, some prog metal that remains heavy as fook at the same time. Becoming rare these days.

....Huh.

I never knew Danny Walker was the touring drummer for Jesu.

That's fantastic.

I'm not sure if the t-shirt/CD deal is in effect anymore.

I remember it being a pre-order special, but I could be wrong.

If you click "Buy now" it will re-direct you to the site it was sold at, but not the actual item.

blah nvm then, do they sell their album in any stores or just online?
#21
I'm sure you might be able to find it in stores, but your best bet would be buying online, IMO.

The only stores that I would imagine having it would be FYE, or a local record store, but I've been wrong before.

Hell, Best Buy sells ISIS albums, so some stores may have Intronaut, however unlikely.

my local hmv has 1 copy of an intronaut ep, and that's the extent of their post-metal collection. no cult of luna, no isis, not even a single proper album. makes you wonder why they chose that particular one....
#23
My FYE has the new Intronaut, some ISIS (even a few eps) and Cult of Luna.
Our metal section recently took over a part of the latina section

Yeah, FYE is basically the best source for metal CDs in my area.

They had Jesu's "Lifeline" EP and "Why are We Not Perfect"! I damn near jizzed myself.

But, yeah, my FYE has, in terms of post metal/etc. Pelican, ISIS, Neurosis, Jesu, etc. I think I've ever saw Red Sparowes. o_O

Overall, it's not a bad selection, they just throw you a curveball every once in a while. "Let's see... Sigh, Skyfire... SLIPKNOT?!"

Your FYE has fukking Skyfire!?
Their albums are so damn expensive on amazon
#32
^You haven't been in the metal forum all that long, have you?

Have you SEEN any of the Opeth threads?

"Man, Opeth would have done an AMAZING soundtrack for Legend of Zelda Ocaraina of Time. Who agrees?"
"Meh, I think Majora's Mask is better."
"You're both wrong. Final Fantasy VII ftw. PSX owns."
*skip ahead 20 pages*
"No, no, no, no. Ganon has NOTHING on Sephiroth. He'd wipe the floor with his green ass."

etc. etc.

i've been overusing that emoticon. xD

I KNOW I've seen the little "Sigh" slider card divider thing, but I may be wrong about Skyfire...... I'll be at the mall later. I'll report back ASAP with info.

a lot of bands like this need more exposure.
In my opinion, they lead a little towards Doom metal and some alt rock, but then you hear BTBAM and Opeth
lol

I quite liked their stuff on Myspace, really trippy. Has anyone seen them live? How are they? I'll be watching them on the 25th.
