Bonjour. I got my JSX yesterday. It's beastly, but I'd like to tighten it up a bit. I tried my dad's Keeley TS9 through it today and it was exactly what I want. But they're expensive so is there anything that does basically the same for a bit less?

maxon OD-808.
130 bucks, does almost exactly what the keeley does.
or if you're more into the smooth gainy lead boost thing, i'd go for an OD-9
or if the fact that the OD-808 isn't completely true bypass bugs you, an OD-9 is perfect. it's 20 bucks more though.

Anything up to about £70 - £80
I was thinking about a Maxon OD808 shipped from the US. Cheaper than getting one here. Cos I have around £100 left over and I'd like to get something like that and an NS2 (don't tell me to get a Decimator, too much cash)

I'm just looking for something to keep on permanently to act as something to tighten the sound and make it a bit heavier.

Its like 35 bucks more. Do you have a job? Why not just save up for another few weeks?

I live in the UK, it's more than $35 more. It's £100/$150 more... do you see why I don't have many options? lol
And nah I don't have a job I'm still only 15... 16 soon though. But I'll start saving for a new guitar when I get a job.

yes, but it's worse than the NS-2.
I guess i didn't know it's that much more over there.
but.
No need for a new guitar.
I'd kill for a pgm 301.

Yeah but... it's too big on me really. and it's not really a metal guitar, I want something that looks better really, i bought it for the feel. I mean I don't even play shred despite my JSX and PGM, so I'd be wanting to get something that can take a bit of a beating, becuase my playing is quite aggressive. Maybe an EC1000 in vintage black.

You're 15 and you have a JSX. I'd say just live with it and wait till you can afford nicer equipment. It's not really a priority in your life, is it?

See, this is why I don't mention my age.
And yeah it sort of is really. I don't have anything else to fund. Should I spend all my money on new pencils for school? I didn't avoid any social activities for 9 months last year for something that isn't my priority in life.

It's not a gate, it's a noise reduction circuit control. It eliminates preamp hiss only.
