no, not the guitar input...

on the back panel of my Crate VTX65b (great amp btw) is a 1/4" Insert plug for connecting external processors/ effects...
can i use my guitar effects pedals here, or is it strictly for rackmount processors... ?

this is all the manual says about it:

all it does is send your signal straight to the power amp. basically, if you plug something into it, it skips your distortion and EQ/tone etc...

Head and Cab for $130? You don't need a head and cabinet, you need a psychological examination.

All of yous' is wrong.

Yeah, it's the effects loop. If you put your guitar into your pedals/pedals into the amp, then the effects come in BEFORE the signal runs through the preamp(where the gain and eq is worked in). While it's a matter of preference, wahs and overdrive/distortion generally go before the preamp. The effects loop comes between the pre-amp and power-amp stages of the signal, so the effects enter your signal AFTER the preamp. Things like phasers, pitch shifters, etc etc go here, usually(But again, it's all preference).

So yeah, go ahead.

thanks for all your replies...

i know it's essentially an effects loop...
but i was reading online that line instrument level signals are -10dB, and line level signals were -4dB...
i thought i should check up on this before i mess something up, as there's no switch to change the levels...

also, here's a system block diagram of my amp (from the manual)...
the Insert plug is before the power amp stage...

I know how to use it as an effects loop if thats what you want?
I have a crate with the adsact same thing and i use it for my phaser delay and such.
#10
I imagine it's a preamp in. If it's one jack, it isn't a loop, per se. If you wanted to use it as one I'd have to ask you if you have a headphone out at all?

Belive it or not Bartdevil it IS a loop.
A sterio input that with a y cable that is a sterio male - 2 femal mono
with one set to the tip and one to the ring to use on as an effects in and one as an effects out.

It was crate BS way of pushing their y cable units.

Oh, it's a stereo jack. That explains it then. I'll leave this one to you then

TS, basicly buy one of these...

Plug the male into the INSERT jack.

Then treat the output that says TIP as EFFECTS RETURN
And treat the output that says RING as EFFECTS SEND

yes, it IS an FX loop, just like every other amp has, you
just need a stereo-mono Y Cable and it'll act exactly like
every other FX loop, my crate has one aswell.

thanks guys/girls...

so the line volume should be correct to use with pedals, yes... ?
