Do you ever listen back to your old recordings and think "Wow, that cheap guitar/pedal/whatever I used to use doesn't sound anywhere near as bad as I remember"?

My gear is far far superior to what it used to be, but somehow my old recordings sound exactly how I wanted them, and my new ones never sound the way I imagine them. I think when you know less about recording and production values, your records have some kind of lo-fi chaotic "edge" to them. My new ones sound way too neat and tidy.

Hehe, but it's just my opinion as a fan of noisy music. Record companies probably think the opposite.
