No I just bought a V50 yesterday for 300 on amazon.com brand new. Check it out. They are sweet amps. Also, you could check at the V50 Palomino on Musicians friend. It's 350 and I've heard really good things about it too.

There's pretty much only the Legacy Valve amps, but they aren't that good.

I swear people can't read or something. He said 300 to 400 AUD which is AUSTRALIAN DOLLARS. 400 AUD is approximately 270 USD, and prices in Australia are higher than in USA and he obviously can't buy on something like musiciansfriend or Amazon US.

Not everyone is from US.

TS: maybe give us a link to a music store from Australia so we can browse for some amps and give you recommendations?

It seems to me that an Epiphone Valve Jr. combo would work for you. I think it's 350 AUD.

The Fender Champion 600 is of a similar price to the Epiphone in the US, but I don't know if they're available for that price in Australia.

EDIT: This is the site I looked on for Australian prices, and I didn't see Fender amps, which is why I was unsure of if you could get them:

If you can look into the Fender Vibro champ, there pretty good hybrids that get close to the tube sound.

Its a good blend of tubes and Digital modeling, better than line 6 in my opinion much more warmer. maybe get a tone tuby in there and youve got a great little amp.

Rubbish!

The Legacy Valve amps are exactly the same as their Epiphone couterparts, the only difference being the badge and the smaller price tag.

Epiphone VJ Combo = $359 (guitar.com.au)
Legacy Valve 5 Combo = $235 (billyhydemusic.com.au)

Has this thread seriously had this many replies without even knowing what type of music you play? That is essential info.

style of music becomes irrelivant when the budget limits his choice to 2 amps.

The only 2 I can think of that fit the price bracket is the Legacy Valve 5 (Epiphone VJ) and perhaps a Fender Champion 600
#26
Well, if he plays anything other than blues up to classic rock, then he probably doesn't need to be buying tube amps at that budget. Which is why I asked what styles he plays.

Head and Cab for $130? You don't need a head and cabinet, you need a psychological examination.
