so i have a squier affinity and i am replacing the nut, but the nut width is 40.9 mm, which I gather is quite non-standard.... and i can't find a nut for sale that is that size... ideas?

41 millimeters is the standard for Fender nuts.

.1 millimeters is around the width of human hair, so I don't think you need to worry.

EDIT:

Any 41 mm or 1-5/8 inch nut for Fender guitars will do.

No worries man, it makes perfect sense.

Y0u are looking for something that matches, and nothing matches, so you're all "wtf broseph?"

At least you asked, instead of buying like $100 nut files to make you're own 40.9 mm nut. That would be classic...

haha, i was wondering if i had to, could i get a 1 5/8ths nut thats not strat specific and file it to fit in the strat slot? or should i make do with a slightly larger nut made for strats? http://www.graphtech.com/products.html?SubCategoryID=8 (the only nut on that page that seems the right size looks wrong, and isn't strat, i think)

Only nut? There are like thity options there...

And they look like the right size.

Check out some other websites or your local guitar store, tell them you need a 41mm or 1-5/8 inch nut, I'm sure they can help you.

yea, but the "length" category needs to be 1-5/8th's, not e to e or anything right? the only two come up of that length are 1/4 inch wide, not the 1/8th wide that the nut slot in a strat is...

Basically. I suppose one might be better, but I really don't know enough to advise you on the subject.
