Ok i just bought a classic 30 today for 300$ on craigslist.

I got the head version and all i need is a cabinet.

Does avatar make a 112?

I plan on using Tone Tubbies just cause i dont know im a stoner and i like the idea that they use hemp.

Also now being a classic 30 owner now is there any links to websites related to the amp that i should look into.

Darkar Biter look into this and tell me what you think.

I got a 70/80 from my valvetronix that should do for now till i put money for a Tone tubby.

Also whats the diffrence between a Open back and a closed back other than the obvios diffrence.

ive got a lopoline. i think it was a hundred bucks.

it's small and heavy.
came as ordered. no complaints.

i suggest you keep looking at CL and find a used 2x12.

you'll thank me later.

that's a closed and it's got more low end.

well the thing is.

I could get a 212 but the thing is i also have to buy speakers for the thing.

Im dead set on getting tone tubbies and there pretty espensive.
So i think ill just get the 112.

Altough a 212 would be bomb ill have to think about it.

Also anyone know the anything about tone tubbies for that matter, there new Rafael came out, is it the same as there regular green hemp ones, without the hemp cone whats the deal.

Also im sure someone has tought of this but lets say i get a 112 open back, can i tell these guys to put some hinges on the mother ****er and make like a little door to have it open back or closed back whenever i want.

Is it even worth putting effort into it, is there a major diffrence in sound?

if you get an open back you can probably add a removable back cover after.

if you get their closed back, the back doesnt remove it's all one piece.

and i would rather look for a cheap 2x12 and save for speakers later.

^yah now that i think about it.

I will probly get the 212, buy one Tone Tubby and use the spare Vox 70/80 in the meantime to fill in the whole. could i do this.

HHHMMM.....

Tough choice.

For moneys sake and just to avoid me being confused in all ill maybe just go with the 112 and keep it simple.

ok so i picked up my amp today.

Its loaded with Electro Harmonix in the Pre amp and JJ's in the power section.

Good from the start.

They didnt have a cab where i went to go pick it up so we went to Carvin Coorperation to test out the amp before i finalized the deal/

Pluged it into a 212 with custom carvins, this baby rips.

the only thing i dont like is the Boost function, it gets louder but it losses definition is there a mod for this.

Im looking into the Carvin now heres a link.

you can change the values of the boost. I just don't use it, i have my maxon for that.

what do you mean change the values of the boost?

do you just mean leaving it off.

The boost really disapointed me to the point where i just decided to buy a LB1 EHX to go along with my CM-2 whenever it needs a kick in the rear.

If you don't know what i mean then uhh

you can change the values of the transistor running the boost. Hard to explain if you don't know what that is

Newer Classic 30s (and 50s too, although I'm not sure) have a diode clipping boost. It doesn't sound that good, but you can mod it.

I read into this awhile back, my Classic 30 combo runs 1 cab 2 16ohm or 2 at 8ohm I believe. Not sure if the head version differs. Anywho,
