What does cathode biased mean? what does this mean for changing tubes in a v18 or any other cathode biased amp? Is it ok to install a type of tube other than the stock type?

edit: sorry wrong forum, move me to GB&C

why would this go in GB&C? it has nothing to do with building or customizing anything...

as for cathode biasted, as far as i understand it means the amp is self biasing. so its more plug and play than if you had to go in and bias it yourself. but no, you cant put anything other than the stock tubes in, within reason anyway. like you can stick a 12au7 in the preamp instead of a 12ax7, but you cant change between 6l6's and el84's or something like that.
