Hey guys, i have this book that teaches all the basics of the Guitar (how to read music, notes on all six strings, chords, scales, and some simple songs etc.) I have been working and I am about halfway through the book, but I find it very boring. I would kind of rather just print tabs and get tab books and practice scales and learn chords on my own. Should I keep going along in the book, or just skim through it, or will I be fine if I stop it?

If it's boring...move on to something that isnt. Then, when your fingers get tired or ya just can NOT nail down that one lick you've been working on...switch back.

Nothing says we have to use a single piece of info to learn. Hell, I just use UG, utube,etc... plenty out there to keep anyone busy without the need for spending a penny.

I have had lessons and wont ever go back. I have had two different teachers and both were a waste of money

I say get lessons, if they're available in your area. They're really great.
Not all teachers are great...
