Don't know if this has been posted yet but...

Here's this:
Petrucci Forum

From Petrucci's guitar tech:

Played this for 10 mins, heres what I can remember about it.

each channel has: 3 voices, a bold/dark switch, 3 power settings, eq selector, Gain, treb, mid, bass, presence knobs.
channel 1 voicings- Clean, Fat Clean, Tweed
channel 2 voicings- Edge, Crunch, Mark I
channel 3 voicings- Mark IIc+, Mark IV, Extreme
3 power settings are 10w, 45w, 90w
eq selector selects graphic on/off/footswitchable (graphic has 2 eq pots added)
selectable tube/diode rectification for each channel
tweed setting on power switch, simul class but was loaded with 6l6's
reverb, serial loop, footswitch has 8 switches on it.

Mark IIc+ sounds great, Mark IV sounds like my Mark IV lead channel,
Mark I is nice and dark. Fat Clean and Crunch sound like my Stiletto.
They told me it is the exact circuitry of the Mark IIc+ and Mark IV when you select those modes.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
So far I've heard they ship in March and the head will have a price of USD1999 with the options being long head and 1X12 combo. Some say they've preordered it but that only reps are taking the preorders. Supposedly Petrucci's been testing out the prototype for awhile. Just wish the IIC+ and MKIV were on seperate channels.

Exactly! I've been saving for the same amp since MK IVs are getting harder to find and I liked the Powerball but now this comes along and I'm torn between the two. I'll probably go with the Boogie though, if it is as good as they say.

glad to see a possible release date/price. I've already heard lots about it, but not any idea of a date.

yikes
23 knobs
15 switches minus the power ones and the ones in the back (5+ switches)
the 5 band equalizer

my little brain cant handle these

but hey its a MARK 5 its gonna sound good if petrucci has it in his rig.

Yea, when I finally get the last bit of money together and buy one I'm gonna wind up sitting there tweaking it for atleast a week. But it's gonna sound kick ass once I finally manage to stop messing with everything.

Although I'm sure the Mark 5 has amazing tone, its far too complex for my liking... I would never use 90% of the features it has to offer.

Yea, I was wondering about that. It seems kind of unnecessary since they already have the Stiletto. I might as well try to find somewhere to try it out though.

It does look like it has a little much. Once I find something I like, I'll probably just stick with it and not change it too much. But it's less then the Road King and I'm sure it sounds much better. The Rectifier series is a little too harsh IMO.

It look so cramped on the front. i'm going to wait for reviews first and see if they are any bugs in the first run.

I'm just gonna go ahead and get a first run one. If it's got bugs there's always people who are willing to pay alot for a lower serial number, even if the newer ones are obviously better.

i would buy one in a heartbeat. its actually a lot less complicated now imo, seeing how each channel has independant EQ.

would gettting a TC Electronics G-System and have a Mark IV Preset and Mark IIC+ Preset be possible?

I tried it out in store.

Great neck, nice n light, good tuning stability. Overall a good guitar. I didn't but it cause I generally only buy guitars over a grand now.

I don't think so since that function isn't footswitchable, but you may want to ask someone who has more experience doing that sort of stuff. Even then the EQ would need to be changed to get the most out of it, which is why I thought they should be on seperate channels so they would have seperate EQs. You could use the Graphic EQ to make more of a difference but I would have it on most of the time so that wouldn't work for me.

The MKV looks more straight foward than the Mark IV. Everything is finally split up, there isn't extra junk on the back like the IV, and it looks like it's built better.

I don't understand some of these guys with their "it has too many knobs" "it's too complex". Why would you want to sound the same day in day out. Throw all the controls at me, I actually want to have my own tone.

Based on the 8 pin DIN socket for the footswitch, it looks like Midi control via the RJM Amp Gizmo is a realistic possibility. . .which means I'll have to look into one as soon as I can.

i don't agree, but...

i really do like the fully independent channels this time, and the neatness of the million switches.
and man i'm hoping someone down the line would wanna trade their V for my IV... that'd just be fun.

has anyone seen the back? i wonder...
