I'm buying a peavy vypyr on saturday, and I've been looking more and more into it

and I came across a few things that mentioned a "power sponge"
what is this for?

pretty sure it acts as an attentuator and drops the wattage so you can have the benefits of cranking it without the actual volume of it being cranked.

It will pop up if you type those 3 words in the Search bar. Try it. It's fun.

He's probably tried, but because he can't spell 'Peavey' he failed to find anything And yes, it is an attenuator.

iirc it is something like the VOX AD<xx>VT series, there is a knob that turns the watts up and down.
