I have loaded the PLugins onto mac but cant find them in logic when i click on add plugin.

Logic only supports AU format plugins, not VST.
if the plugs your trying to use aren't AU then you cant use them .
any plugins i've installed in Logic have appeared in the "Audio Units" menu of the insert plugin menu.

theres a section in the manual all about this AU plugin stuff.

That's true, but I believe you can get a vst wrapper to allow vst's to be used. I'm not very knowledgable on this though, someone else might know something, or you could try google.
