I dont usually play a lot of lead or anything so I don't use many scales. I'm usually the type of guitarist that plays chords as rhythm. However, I've been working on writting instrumentals lately and I hear it all played out in my head, however, there is a part that I don't know.

I'm looking for a scales to use that would make someone think it sounds medieval in many aspects. I even wouldn't mind finding out what scales Kirk Hammet used for that middle eastern sound.

at the same time, maybe there isn't any scales that would give me a more medieval sound, perhaps its all in the way I'm tuning the guitar?

Any help would be appreciated.

I saw Pantera live once, Dime changed into a body bag right there on stage.

The harmonic minor scales would work for that...

Kirk usually plays e minor scales or phrygian scales !

Try it!

For middle eastern sound: Harmonic minor, Phrygian dominant
Kirk Hammet uses pentatonic minor

Im sorry, I just don't see how you could argue that hardcore isn't metal. That just seems arrogant to me.

Yes, its its own kind of metal, but its still metal.
