It seems that the only amp that I like seems to be an Ampeg. I've tried Classic 30's, AC30's, Blues Jr., Deluxe Reverb, JC-120, and I dont like any of these. The only one I would maybe use is an AC30, and even then maybe not. I'm going to try a Blackheart later this week and see.

Why is it that I like just Ampegs and nothing else?

Also, I'm planning on buying either a Godin LG (HH config.) or a Fat Strat (HSH config.)

So, am I making it harder trying to find a new amp since now I want Casino AND LG to sound good through it?

What's the problem? Ampegs are great amps. Those are just the amps that your ears prefer. Don't you have an Ampeg? If so, then you're in luck! You don't need a new amp.

I don't really see what the problem is.. just buy an Ampeg. May I suggest a V4?

I'll have to put the Classic T models on my to-try list. Shame the finish options there are Anachronism Gold, Nuclear Waste and Aged Clown, because in principle the plaintop is right up my alley.

Presumably because the CCF (Combined Corksniffing Forces) of MLP and Gibson forums would rise up against them, plunging the land into war.

But seriously, if you must have a new amp, look at Reverberockets.

I check a ****-load of sites, and the only amp they seem to make still is the Jet-20.

I know I could always buy a used one, but I wont. And I wont say why b/c that just starts a flame war.

Also, to everyone wondering, I would use my original '68 Ampeg Gemini 1x12 Combo (it used to be my dad's from back when, but he gave it to me). But I'm afraid if I use it to gig, someone would try to steal it.

That's why I want a new Ampeg.

Well get a jet, then, if that's all they still make. You're making a huge mistake limiting yourself to new amp, but that's your choice. I wouldn't be worried about getting that amp stolen, though, unless you leave your amp sitting around during gigs without being near it for long periods of time. I wouldn't be more worried about that amp than any other amp, at least.

If you were white trash you would understand... We like our dice what can I say lol

Also the real reason.... Is due to the fact I cant find replacements knobs for it (looked everywhere without any luck) and i'm not paying 6+ bucks a knob just to get a matching set of something else. So I made my own for about 3 bucks total...

Ampegs are nice.
That's just the way some people are. I'm that way with ride cymbals (I'm a drummer too)
I seem to hate most of the ones I find

i think part of it is that you are trying amps that are similar and expecting different results. the classic 30 is supposed to sound fairly similar to the AC30, so if you dont like one it makes sense you wont like the other. same the the two fenders, pretty similar sound if i remember correctly. try things like marshalls (i mean like the good ones), oranges, and mesas for stuff that will sound different. ok, well oranges are fairly similar to marshalls, but still. mesa has some nice stuff and they dont limit themselves to one sound. try out a lonestar for a more american feel and then a stiletto for more of a brittish sound.

or hell, just get an ampeg if thats what you are liking. no sense in arguing with your ears, they wont listen to you.

I know what you mean about rides. For it's either I love it, or I don't.

Used = better most of the time. But I wouldn't worry about your amp getting stolen, as long as you keep an eye on it.

As stated before, he will not purchase a used amp. I remember the reason why, but since he doesn't want to divulge it, I won't either.

In any case, I can totally understand liking only one kind of amp. I have two of the first run V-Series amplifiers because I love how they can go from Vox-style to Marshall-style tones very easily, and each of them sound good to my ears. Other amps that I've tried don't seem to have that kind of mutability, or if they do, they don't sound good on both. The only problem I have is figuring out whether I like the 15-watt class A amp or the 50-watt class AB amp more!

Keep in mind that a lot of guitar players use only one kind of amplifier through most of their careers. Brian May has one of the simplest guitar rigs of all time and only used AC30's, and pretty much everyone universally agrees that his tone is one of the best ever. If it's good enough for him, I'd say it's good enough for you too.

TL;DR: If you only like Ampeg and they only make one amp, then don't worry about it and get that amp.

GAS for a Cornford, Cornell, and probably a Martamp too. Not forgetting a Soldano and a Bogner.
