whats the best way to ease into barring chords, i push down as hard as i can but there's always one string that sounds muffled when i strum. should i just sit for a few hours holding my finger down, or do any of you have some useful techniques?
thanks!

hold your finger as close to the fret as you can, it sounds better. Like if your playing a barre on the first fret make it closer to the fret rather than the nut.

Make sure you holding down each string too. if your not you may be muting one.

make sure your barre finger isn't overhanging too much, it should just have your fingertip on the low E.

you'll get used to it, promise

I had the same problem. It took me quite a while to do barres with no problem. Just build up the strength and you will get the hang of it after a while.. just dont give up.

I'd definately go along with that one.
Oh, now I've gone and spilled my tea. This really won't do at all.
