Ok, today I went to the gym and town for lunch, which took about 3 hours I guess. However, when I left, I didn't realise my dog was shut in the garage so she was in there for 3 hours

When i got in I started looking for her and eventually found her in there. Only thing is, there was a bag of ripped open plant fertilizer on the floor with the stuff spilled out. I cleaned up everything and threw away the evidence but my question is, can my dog get sick/die from this (she's already thrown up once but thats it)? Google comes up with different answers...

TLDR - Can dogs get ill/die from eating plant fertilizer (a moderate amount)

Yep. Your dog is most likely going to die. Unless you are exaggerating and only a small amount was eaten. I can't really see the dog just sitting there chowing down on it..are you sure a large amount was eaten? If so call the phone number on the bag.

I'm only going by what was on the floor, there was alot left in the bag. And this dog has the biggest appetite of any dog in the world.

i'm sure it could make her sick, but i doubt it's life threatening.

does it have any warnings on the bag about pets eating it? if not, then your dog will probably be fine. keep an eye on her, though, and if it looks like shes getting sick, then go to a vet.

Call the poison control phone number on the bag and give her lots of water.

Always be on the safe side, phone up the number on the bag, and also goto a vets or something.

well if it's just Dirt/Crap then it should be fine,But if it's industrial sort of fertalizer whith Ammonium nitrate that might not be too good.

If it's a poison of some kind DON'T make it throw it up.
That will just put more poison on the lining of the throat.

Give the dog some liquids to help digest the fertilizer. I suggest Antifreeze.

Most chemicals used in fertilisers these days are made so they won't be harmful when eaten by say baby.

I doubt it'll be that harmful to your dog. Plus if your's is anything like mine it'll be licking about at stuff much worse.

My dog once ate Rat Killer, and we took him to the vet where they injected him with something that made him throw up. Your dog should be fine as long as you take him to the vet, just to be safe.
#21
Just take the dog to the vet. Or, alternatively, get him to shit on a vegetable patch. His fecal matter will make for uber fertiliser.
#22
fertiliser = poo..

Dogs like poo

Monitor the fricken dog.. Watch her... Anything strange, get her to the vet?

It would be advisable to take your dog to the vet, just incase.

I doubt she could die from it though.

Depends on the fertilizer.

Most home grade fertilizers are just gross, but non toxic.
Chances are it's primarily nitrates and phosphates. Most commercially available home fertilizers are just phosphates, nitrates, charcoal, and humus/peat. If it does have ammonium nitrate you should definetly take your dog to the vet.

Most likely though, his ****s just going to smell like crazy for a week or so.
