I'm planning on getting a new guitar for my birthday-ish...which is in a month =)
I play metal(megadeth/metallica/pantera/slayer) and shred rock(Paul Gilbert/RacerX//Joe Satriani)

im not too sure what to get right now:

I currently have an Ibanez RG350DX(Standard) and an Ibanez RG1570 Prestige(Half-Step). I am also Australian so please attempt to consider prices. I also would prefer if it had a fixed bridge,a small detail would also be that id like it to be a V or a non-strat shaped guitar, ive already got two . Less than 1100$ would be awesome as well =)

I'm thinking to get a:
Jackson KE3(yes i know its floating bridge but its damn sexy)
Ibanez VBT700(the only one ive seen in melbourne)
Jackson DK2M(strat shape but also sexy)
Carvin V220(The one marty friedman used, no clue where to get one though)

any other recommendations?
please give reasons for each guitar.

much thanks UG =D

Get a B.C Rich Mockingbird, I have a Exotic Classic, and it is the best guitar I have ever played, and it's beautiful!

Save till you can buy a Jackson USA (KV2T or RR1T). You already have an Ibanez prestige, you wont get any guitar that will be alot better than that for that money.

try schecter guitars. Or if you're tired of your sound in your prestige try swapping the pickups.

DK2m in white. Maple/White/Black = sexy. It is also a very nice guitar to play.

Jackson RR model maybe?

Or you could save up more since that prestige will kinda make anything in that price range look meh.You can try to find a used Carvin on a site like Ebay since a new model from them would be out of your price range.

Well if you find a good deal like that on a guitar that is 1100 AUS (like if you could score an ESP or Jackson USA, or a Music Man, ...), than it would be worth it. Otherwise it would be a waste of money.

actually, i tried the Ibanez V today, i dunno if id want a V shape anymore :S
very hard to practice with personally :S

If your not playing on stage yet, I'd personally veer away from the odd shapes. They're a bit difficult to play sitting down on something soft like a bed. Even my EC-1000 isn't the best on my bed or computer chair. I much prefer the standard strat style to sit and practice with.
#21
i prefer v's sitting down because of fret access and i actually find them comfy but RR are differernt becoz the jack is where the long wing rests on your leg so u hav the lead jabbing into u all the time....

for shred and metal go an esp ltd i would go for the ec or mhnt series

Except their ugly as sin. The headstock is practically bigger than the guitar.

Yeah, they are like marmite, hate it or love it

I love them
